Change- is inevitable but welcoming at times

‘ The good old days ’. A very common sentence repeated by many of us and usually associated with a sigh. As we grow older we move on to a higher platform of responsibility. Our goals change, our field of work changes and our environment follows the same route of change. This change is what is inevitable and we make conclusions because of the same. Spending a few years surrounded by the same people and doing the same kind of daily work becomes a routine and boring at times. We even curse our daily routine at times and get impatient for a change. But at the same time somewhere inside we know that this has become our comfort zone and we have fitted ourselves cozily into it. We follow the same routine week after week and months and years pass on following almost the same timetable. Everything was going on smoothly and we were content.
Then suddenly that happens which we want superficially but our comfort loving mind doesn’t want to accept…..CHANGE. Yes, something changed suddenly. May be our school or may be our city or even our job. It can be even a changeover from school to college or college to office. This change brought along itself many other changes like- routine change, location changed, our friends, our food and many more important and some not so important changes which somehow affect us daily.

There after starts a series of very usual sequence of emotions. Our mind and heart start debating and end up with no conclusion at times. We discuss with everyone or maybe no one about our feelings. Nights are spent thinking about how can all this be managed by me. We scold ourself, even abuse at times for not being casual about the change which was much decided. But then it has to be accommodated. So we start off to a new journey.

Initial days we have to take on roads filled with potholes and boulders. We get hurt, even fall and cry at times. We even curse the change and some even get disheartened. But then we get used to these obstacles and slowly even learn how to find an easy path and get used to things. Along with this change we also brought a bag full of added responsibilities and tasks which are to be coordinated parallel with our daily routine. This is another tedious task.

In case of a person moving from carefree college life to professional life. They have added responsibilities and even the society expects them to act professionally. They start acting to look professional and act similarly. After sometime they also get habituated to the change and behave casually and learn to manage everything.
So, after all changes happen and after we get used to a new environment, there comes a time when we would like to sit idle and think about the days spent in our previous habitat. Framing those memories and saying – ‘the good old days’, is a different experience which we can have only after we pass through a change. We hear people saying- ‘change is for good’. Do we agree or not? The answer lies neither within us nor anywhere. It is actually true after we pass that change and think about it and say- ‘thank God, all passed well’. So, the next time if anyone says the above line our reaction should probably come after experiencing  the change for atleast some years….(not actually true, and I wanted to add a smiley with P here, but blogs don’t look authentic in chat language).

The simplest possible route is to accept the change happily and just be casual about it because things settle down but take some time. The other alternative is being against the change and it purely depends upon the kind of change we face. Lead your own way to make things look like you want them to be. Finally, you will be happy only when you pass the initial stage with a will to survive.
